I thought I’d ignore some responsibilities this evening and take some time to assess my current workload. I basically have too much on at work, church, lodge, and rugby, and I’m becoming increasingly tired at trying to balance it all. I’ve decided that in lieu of immediately dropping everything (though this would potentially have some merit), I would try and segment those areas of my life such that they do not impact my day-to-day.
Accordingly, I have used Bluehost (where I purchased this domain) to create some email addresses for each. The masonic one is the only one that’s working at the moment, but I plan to do the others soon.
Why? Well, I plan on turning off notifications for all accounts except my personal email one, then schedule time in my week to review and action emails from rugby, church and lodge. I’m aware how valuable my time is (or at least, how valuable my employer thinks my time is worth for clients), so I don’t think I should be spending more than two or three hours on each of the three above pro bono. Things like committee meetings will eat into that, but so be it. If there’s anything pressing that comes up in any of the above, relevent people will have my mobile number (and personal email) anyway, so hopefully they can action it.
Reviewing the website, I’ve also decided to switch up the design and homepage. It probably needs more work doing, but whilst I’m hardly blogging or driving any traffic, I’m not too concerned. I’ll need to add some detail onto the homepage like my experience, CV and voluntary roles, but I can do that at the weekend. I did like the old design, but elementor was just too frustrating for me to deal with.
